Former President Clinton unveils Bush Clinton Coastal Recovery Fund with Former President Bush and announces international expansion of the Lance Armstrong Foundation

President Clinton opened the fourth Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting today, bringing together nearly 60 current and former heads of state, five Nobel Peace Prize recipients, and hundreds of international CEOs, non-profit leaders, and major philanthropists to collaborate to make positive change in the world.

"Everyone who has come to CGI's Annual Meeting or is following it online has the power to make a difference," said President Clinton. "The commitments you will make this year-both at the meeting and on our web-portal MyCommitment.org-come at a time of great uncertainty for the world. This makes our collective ability to touch the lives of others more important than ever. Working together, we can help make a safer and more sustainable future."

This morning President Clinton and former President George H. W. Bush came together to announce the creation of the Bush Clinton Coastal Recovery Fund.

The Fund is designed to help recovery efforts for people in Texas and Louisiana who were affected by the 2008 hurricane season.

The former presidents have worked together in the past to raise money for recovery efforts after the 2004 Tsunami that affected Southeast Asia and Hurricane Katrina.
Among the commitments President Clinton announced in the opening session was the international expansion of the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The Foundation will convene international leaders and launch a global public awareness and grassroots campaign to make cancer an international priority.
"Cancer will claim 8 million lives around the world this year. Tragically, many of these deaths can be prevented" said Lance Armstrong, cancer survivor, cycling champion and chairman and founder of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. "That is why I am using my return to professional sports to launch the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Awareness Campaign.

It's an honor to be able to announce this campaign among the distinguished Clinton Global Initiative attendees and to appeal to them directly for support in this great endeavor."

By the end of the day commitments had been announced in the four focus areas:

Poverty Alleviation, Climate Change, Health and Education.

Information on some of the commitments announced today, including to "Mega Commitments" in the area of poverty alleviation is attached.

• The Lance Armstrong Foundation committed $8 million over 5 years to broaden the scope and reach of the Lance Armstrong Foundation from a national to an international foundation to support cancer survivors and make Cancer an international priority.

• PATH, Save the Children, Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health, and BRAC committed $20 million over 5 years to reduce newborn mortality rates through the creation and distribution of "A Better Beginning for Babies Kit." This commitment is expected to reach at least 2 million newborns in the next 5 years and save approximately 123,000 lives.
• Tulsi Tanti Holding Limited committed $5 billion total project value, with a $1.5 billion equity investment, to develop green power generating assets around the world, with a particular focus on investments in India and China. This commitment will develop over 3,500 Mega-Watts of Green Power Generating Assets, helping several countries meet the Kyoto protocol renewable energy targets.
The following organizations form the Aspen Network for Development Entrepreneurs-ANDE which will support entrepreneurs, and small and growing businesses in developing countries through financing, technical assistance and general support.
• The Aspen Institute commits to incubating the new ANDE organization.
• The Acumen Fund commits $1.5 million to setting standard metrics for social investment success.
• Agora Partnerships commits $15 million to supporting enterprises in Central America and Southern Mexico.
• Citi is a founding of ANDE and commits its core business to its goals
• Endeavor commits $250,000 to sharing best-practices amongst entrepreneurs in the Middle East and Latin America.
• The Grassroots Business Fund commits $50 million to expanding enterprises in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

• Tostan commits to expand access to mobile banking services in rural West African communities.

Progress reports were scheduled to include:

Jesse Ventura will become our greatest volunteer
Loved Ones…President Bush today asserted executive privilege to prevent Attorney General Michael Mukasey from having to comply with a House panel subpoena for material on the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

Loved Ones please understand what this means to the security of our country….understand how this works….when a spy for the United States goes about their individual responsibilities they are risking their life and limb.

Imagine…what would happen if a spy for Ben Laden was leaked to the FBI…what do you think would happen?

Imagine… what would happen if a spy for the Palestinian resistance was in Israel and was leaked to the Israeli military…what do you think would happen?

Imagine if spy for Fidel Castro was leaked to the N.S.A…what would happen?

They would be killed/neutralized/radiated/poisoned….they would be eliminated.

A House committee chairman, meanwhile, held off on a contempt citation of Mukasey — who had requested the privilege claim — but only as a courtesy to lawmakers not present.

Among the documents sought by House Oversight Chairman Henry Waxman are FBI interviews of Vice President Dick Cheney.

Loved Ones…comprehend that every word spoken by House Oversight Chairman Henry Waxman are listened to by the Bush administration…with a wide variety of “intercepting techniques”…

They also include notes about the 2003 State of the Union address, during which President Bush made the case for invading Iraq in part by saying Saddam Hussein was pursuing uranium ore to make a nuclear weapon.

Loved Ones…understand that all this information turned out to be wrong.

Waxman rejected Mukasey's suggestion that Cheney's FBI interview on the CIA leak should be protected by the privilege claim — and therefore not turned over to the panel.

"We'll act in the reasonable and appropriate period of time," Waxman, D-Calif., said. But he made clear that he thinks Mukasey has earned a contempt citation and that he'd schedule a vote on the matter soon.

Loved Ones…do you think Dick Cheney would hesitate to have an operative of the Republican party neutralize Henry Waxman...radiation caused cancer?

Loved Ones…one of those directly involved in disseminating these frightening public announcements just died of cancer…White House spokesman Tony Snow at age 53….what do you think?

"This unfounded assertion of executive privilege does not protect a principle; it protects a person,"

Waxman said. "If the vice president did nothing wrong, what is there to hide?"

The assertion of the privilege is not about hiding anything but rather protecting the separation of powers as well as the integrity of future Justice Department investigations of the White House, Mukasey wrote to Bush in a letter dated Tuesday.

Several of the subpoenaed reports, he wrote, summarize conversations between Bush and advisers — are direct presidential communications protected by the privilege.
"I am greatly concerned about the chilling effect that compliance with the committee's subpoena would have on future White House deliberations and White House cooperation with future Justice Department investigations," Mukasey wrote to Bush. "I believe it is legally permissible for you to assert executive privilege with respect to the subpoenaed documents, and I respectfully request that you do so."

The new White House spokesman Tony Fratto said Bush invoked the privilege on Tuesday.
Waxman said he would wait to hold a vote on Mukasey's contempt citation until all members of the panel had a chance to read up on the matter.

The Bush administration had plenty of warning. Waxman warned last week that he would cite Mukasey with contempt unless the attorney general complied with the subpoena. The House Judiciary Committee also has subpoenaed some of the same documents from Mukasey, as well as information on the leak from other current and former administration officials.

Congressional Democrats want to shed light on the precise roles, if any, that Bush, Cheney and their aides may have played in the leak….the leak…the extortion of American values for political control…

State Department official Richard Armitage first revealed Plame's identity as a CIA operative to columnist Robert Novak, who used former presidential counselor Karl Rove as a confirming source for a 2003 article.

Around that time Plame's husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, was criticizing Bush's march to war in Iraq.

Cheney's then-chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, also was involved in the leak and was convicted of perjury, obstruction and lying to the FBI.

Last July, Bush commuted Libby's 2 1/2-year sentence, sparing him from serving any prison time.

Libby told the FBI in 2003 that it was possible that Cheney ordered him to reveal Plame's identity to reporters.

Loved Ones…do you think what is broadcast thru your cable into your living room is fair and honest…

why bush creates a civil war in Iraq
Loved Ones… the figurehead of the United States…and for the Republican Agenda gwbush stated yesterday…with polished delivery…."The situation on the ground remains tense. In the face of continued reports about killings and reprisals, I understand how some Americans have had their confidence shaken," speaking clearly he continued, "They wonder what I see that they don't."….

Loved Ones…some history may be of interest now…. British and American history 1942-1945…. not too long ago…. at the conclusion of WW Two…. the Americans and the British and the Russians were allies…We 3 were fighting the Nazis in Europe

We three countries were grinding and gradually defeating the powerful German Nazi forces…. pushing them back …as the Americans and British armies pushed back and closed the Military Noose around the retreating German Forces … the Americans and British also armed the growing Underground Resistance…. also while distancing themselves from Russia’s advancing armies…the Russians had lost over 7 million at this point and were focused on attacking Berlin to stop Hitler…

The American and British Command provided the French Resistance fighters and other resistance fighters on the ground with thousands of small arms…ammunitions…. automatic weapons…. demolitions …training for the demolitions targeting public transportation…. and in addition to providing the Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)…we/british and americans provided the materials and the training combined with very specialized covert countermeasures intelligence. …Utilized to manipulate/set-up the resistance fighters…

Allied Command told them to hold off…Ordered them to sit tight and wait for the signal …a song to be played over the Media/Radio…get ready…be prepared…and wait for the signal.

The British and American Commands both gave very direct orders to the Resistance. (Mostly communist sympathizers…not inclined to support a post war British/American Agenda) to sit tight and be prepared... any resistance fighter not going along with the plan got turned in by british countermeasures agents to the Gestapo who quickly made the uncooperative resistance fighter an example…

This strategic maneuver worked well as planned…. for the post WW Two British and Americans…

They made the communists become more easily controllable while the British and American allied forces slowly backed up and maneuvered the powerful retreating Germans into the resistance fighters back yards…very deliberately and specifically crowding them into small localized areas …and then the British and American Forces stopped advancing and encircled both the Germans and the Resistance…. then giving the Radio signal and standing back by while the Germans quickly eliminated all the Communists…. clearing the way for the post war Europe.

Specific areas where the remaining comparatively super powered German Army would be forced to easily kill ALL THE REMAINING COMMUNIST and RUSSIIAN SYMPYTHIZERS…

In other words the British and the Americans planned from the beginning …taking the long view and looking at post war Europe…

So for the British and the Americans the best way to insure the Resistance/and any potential opposition to them …… were ALL Killed was the crowding of the Germans into the resistance areas and then to HOLD OFF ALL ALLIED HELP till the resistance was quickly destroyed by the very powerful German war machine…

No match for small arms ….the Resistance got efficiently slaughtered after they got the signal over the Radio/media broadcast…. while British and American Armies deliberately stood by…

British and American soldiers stood by waiting for all the dirty work to be done efficiently…not much different for Iraq and the civil war happing today….

The civil war today in Iraq….after 3 years and 100,000 Iraqis killed …. After we “Liberated the Iraqis”…we arm our ‘resistance’ then stand back and watch the civil war take out the Iraqi people not supportive of the Republican Oil Agenda…

Functional Communications Blockades in America
Loved Ones…the kidnappers of American, Steve Centanni and New Zealander, Olaf Wiig…separated them… and when they were separate and alone the kidnappers told Olaf, "Unfortunately for you, you were with an American."

They were apologizing to this New Zealander for taking him…they knew the small beautiful country he came from was in fact and in reality an ethical group of peoples…unlike the United States of America…

Loved Ones did you know the Islamic World does not consider New Zealand a terrorist threat to them? Why is that? Because they are not! New Zealand knows how to treat its own citizens and as a result of that also treats other citizens in the same fashion… “Do not do unto others what you would not want done to yourself”

Loved Ones…both Mr. Centanni and Mr. Wiig did in fact convert while in captivity…

This morning on K.T.V.U. CHANNEL2 …on the San Francisco Bay area news…Steve Centanni was able to speak live and unedited (an unusual event)…Steve stated he did in fact convert to Islam and had a deep respect for his captors all the while the moving strip of words across the bottom of the screen said he did not convert…. (ktvu is a FOX owned station…another front organization for the republican oil agenda and it’s multitude of wealthy contractors)

Loved Ones the truth of the matter is…one of the primary ways American Intelligence agencies work is to “incorporate” all information gathering agencies as their own involuntary covert people…without letting those at risk know they are in fact being handled by contractors of the CIA…so for example if they get captured and tortured they can in NO WAY disclose the real origin or the real reasons for their assignment…nor can they reveal their handlers (because they do not know nor ever new who they really were)…it is much safer to use an unsuspecting person because they will be the best at truly acting innocent…because from their perspective they really are…they do not know who their ultimate handlers are…or what their ultimate handlers agenda is….please recognize all communications via air conduction or electronic means are monitored “if you are an individual of interest.”

…So for you, me and Steve to be used by the N.S.A. /CIA is not a big challenge for the American Political System…and you and I and Steve Centanni pay for it…and will continue to pay for it for the rest of our lives…spiritually and financially we are paying right now and will continue to pay…

Loved Ones…today in the United States all of us are becoming “terrorists” to the Middle East…you and I are being lumped into this big mess just like innocent Steve Centanni was…

New Zealand cameraman Olaf Wiig has revealed his captors took him hostage because he was “with an American who they believed was a CIA spy”.

Olaf reported after his release that, "They believed he (Centanni) was CIA, FBI, an informer for the IDF (Israel Defence Forces), that he was there as a spy, an American soldier in Iraq,".

Loved Ones the kidnappers believed that because Centanni was very much a covert informer…. Although he was completely in the dark about it…Steve Centanni was caught in a “black” operation….

The N.S.A. much prefers to sacrifice/put a risk innocent Americans rather than its own in-house professionals…. “They will make more”…

Those presently deriving their extreme incomes for the advanced countermeasures targeting of the “terrorists” as labeled by the Republican Oil Agenda all know these 5 truths….

1.The greatest majority of interception devices, interception techniques and distant controlled spies …that have been found …have been discovered as the result of a good physical search or by accident.

2.Knowledgable Personnel pose the biggest threat to security of a “black” operation…

3. People in our culture love to gossip and love to make an impression on other people with what they know…

4. A true expert in the Spy trade will only utilize electronic shadowing after a though investigation of the target and a good deal careful preparation and groundwork…

5. The successful black operation contractor will always try to find a person that has admission to the desired information and make the most of this asset before resorting to any additional electronic shadowing….

An example of not following these 5 countermeasures guidelines was the Watergate incident, which resulted with Nixon being neutralized…which pissed off a handful of Republican Oil Billionaires…who then "neutralized" the Host of the TODAY SHOW, Frank McGee, because he participated in blowing their cover and was a strategic threat to the Republican communications blockades...Loved Ones these oil billionaires will not repeat that error again….

We join with the Israeli peace movement (and the thousands of Israelis who demonstrated against this war in Tel Aviv July 22, 2006) in their insistence that these attacks are utterly disproportionate to the initial provocation by Hezbollah, have killed innumerable innocent civilians, displaced half a million people, have destroyed billions of dollars of Lebanon's infrastructure, and will not, in the long run, secure peace or security for Israel. We also call on the Israeli government to supply food, electricity, water and funds to repair the humanitarian crisis caused by its invasion of Gaza. By endorsing Israel's attacks, and explicitly giving it time to do more damage to the people of Lebanon, the U.S. government became party to this violence, which, together with American military actions in Iraq, are sure to create enmity towards the U.S. and Israel in the Muslim world for generations to come.

2. We demand that Hezbollah and Hamas immediately stop shelling or otherwise engaging in violence against Israel. These actions, which have killed numerous Israeli civilians, terrorized the people of Israel and destroyed many cities, played a central role in provoking the current crisis, and do nothing but harm the cause of Palestinian and Lebanese independence and democracy. It is this kind of violence which has over the years pushed many decent Israelis into the hands of its most militaristic and paranoid political leaders.

3. We demand that the U.S. government, and governments around the world, call on Israel, Hezbollah and Hamas to observe an immediate cease-fire, place an immediate embargo on all shipments of weapons to all parties in the war (including Syria and Iran), and join an international conference to provide security on the border between Israel and Lebanon.

These are the minimum steps necessary to stop the violence and the humanitarian disaster in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. But alone they will not ensure that the region doesn’t return to an untenable status quo which will again eventually break into violence and new rounds of warfare.

We therefore also issue:

A call for Lasting Peace

We call upon the international community to hold an International Peace Conference to impose a fair and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and to the conflict between Israel and other states in the region. Why do we say “impose”? There are too many forces in each country in the region who are committed to continuing this struggle forever. Their provocations will continue until the international community stops the violence once and for all and imposes conditions of peace that will allow the peace and reconciliation forces in each country to flourish.
Such a solution would be based on the following conditions:

a. The creation of an economically and politically viable Palestinian state (roughly on the pre-1967 borders with minor border modifications mutually agreed upon between Israel and Palestine); and simultaneously the full and unequivocal recognition by Palestinians and the State of Palestine and all surrounding Arab states of the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state offering full and equal rights to all of its non-Jewish citizens.

b. An international consortium to provide reparations for Palestinians who have lost home or property from 1947 to the present and reparations for Jewish refugees from Arab states from 1947-1967;

c. A long term international peacekeeping force to separate Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon and to protect Israel and Palestine from each other and from other forces in the region who might seek to control or destroy either state;

d. The quick imposition of robust sanctions against any party that refuses to sign or violates these agreements.

A New Spirit of Open-Heartedness and Reconciliation

We know that no political solution can work without a change of consciousness that minimally includes an open-heartedness and willingness to recognize the humanity of the Other, and to repent and atone for the long history of insensitivity and cruelty to the other side.

Both sides must take immediate steps to stop the discourse of violence and demeaning of the other in their media, their religious institutions, and their school text books and educational systems. They should implement this by creating a joint authority with each other and with moral leaders in the international community who can supervise and if necessary replace those in positions of power in both societies who continue to use public institutions in their respective societies to spread hatred or nurture anger at the other.

Once the other parts of a lasting peace have been set in place, we call upon the parties to this struggle to launch a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, following the model used in South Africa.

Use This Moment to Challenge the Paranoid and Cynical “Political Realism” That Generates Endless Wars

The paranoid and allegedly “realistic” version of global politics asserts that we live in a world in which our safety can only be achieved through domination—or others will seek to dominate us first. Of course, when we act on this assumption, it becomes self-fulfilling.

We propose, instead, a strategy of generosity—to act on the assumption that people have an enormous capacity for goodness and generosity (without negating the truth that certain conditions promote fear, anger and hatred which sometimes get expressed in horribly destructive ways). For the U.S. and other G8 countries, we call for a Global Marshall Plan: For each of the next twenty years, the U.S. and other G8 countries should dedicate 5% of their Gross Domestic Product to eliminating global (and domestic) hunger, homelessness, poverty, inadequate health care and inadequate education for the peoples of the world. This would have to be carefully monitored and apportioned in ways that ensure the care reaches the people for whom it was intended. But what is critical is the spirit in which it is done.

Similarly, we urge Israel to not only return to its 1967 borders (with minor border modifications mutually agreed upon including a sharing of Jerusalem and of its holy sites) but to do so in a spirit of generosity and caring for the other before it is forced to return to those borders by the international community and before thousands more young Israelis and Palestinians die in these senseless wars that will otherwise continue in the coming years.

The only protection that we in the advanced industrial countries of the world can ever really have for our lives is to spread a spirit of love so powerful and genuine that it becomes capable of reducing the anger that has justifiably developed against the powerful and the wealthy of the world.

The “cynical realists” claim that others are entrenched in their hatred, and that war and domination is the only way to battle them. This kind of thinking has led to five thousand years of people fighting wars in order to “end all wars”—and it has not worked. It’s time now to try a new strategy of generosity, both economic generosity and generosity of spirit. As stated above, there will first have to be a transitional period in which real military protections are available to people on all sides of the struggle. But by beginning now to simultaneously commit our economic resources and change the way that we talk about those who we previously designated as “enemies,” we can begin the long process of thawing out angers that have existed for many generations.

Nothing can redeem the death and suffering that all sides have faced in this struggle for the past 120 years. But this very moment could be the time in which the human race realizes the futility of violence and comes together not only to impose a lasting solution for the Middle East, but to begin a new era and recognize that our own well-being depends on the well-being of everyone else on the planet. The International Middle East Peace Conference should be structured to achieve this end—which means it should have an explicit psychological and spiritual dimension and a visionary agenda.

We affirm the Sacredness of All Human Beings. This is the moment to begin to make that real. The UN raised these possibilities 61 years ago, but relied on political arrangements and fell into politicizing every issue. We need to strengthen international institutions that move in a new direction, but we also need a commitment of the heart from everyone on the planet. Our own countries must take the lead in a whole new approach to security and well-being. This may be the last chance we in the advanced industrial societies have to avoid international catastrophe by modeling something else besides brute power, military might, and indifference to the well-being of others. If not now, when?

Unrealistic? Nope. What has proved unrealistic time and again—whether we are talking about US policy in Vietnam and Iraq or Israeli and Arab policies in the Middle East—is the fantasy that one more war will put an end to wars. The path to peace must be a path of peace.
Religious and spiritual leaders are also making a global call for ten days of prayer and fasting toward the aim of peace, reconciliation, and ending violence, beginning July 27th and continuing through August 6th.
