Speech Pathology and Behavior Modification
During the late 70’s I was fortunate to have been selected by the Burbank Unified School District to be sponsored for a weeklong intensive professional training seminar on implementation of behavior modification techniques for School age Autistic Individuals.

This excellent program .... the Santa Barbara Autism Dissemination Project…a principally scientific approach to changing human behaviors…. and it really works…. Stimulus…. response…reinforcer…start in non distracting setting with needed prompts and rewards…then reduce prompts…reduce rewards…increase distractions…generalize target behaviors…. use of intermittent and inconsistent reinforcers…

We did not us any negative rewards…. only the blahs…. or no positive or delayed positive instead of negative…. this way works but not as fast as using a negative.

When you had that autistic child that could not place his hands down and make eye contact these behavior mod techniques worked….

You really had to look at the environment in which the individual was attempting to function…Autistic individuals are on the opposite end of the intelligence spectrum from retarded…they are just as exceptional from the norm but on a different dimension…. disabled yes…definitely…

Normal folk of course are just as easily managed with behavior modification techniques.

The Regan Administration neutralized the program.. Knowledge about these control tools of human behavior are not to be shared.

Loving People
Some years back my speech pathology case load included a unique group of about 100 or so patients from age 3 1/2 to 21 years of age....all of the patients were blind and something else....blind and deaf... or blind and hard of hearing....or blind with a motor problem....or blind and brittle bones....or.....it goes on and on...bottom line is you were blind and some additional profound diagnosis.

All of them....Wonderful and loving people....really loving and wonderful...the challenges they face are difficult to comprehend till you are there....funny stuff and sad stuff...all super individuals.....try teaching blind 4 year olds object sorting/object discrimintion/tactile memory....then try it with a deaf blind....
any way one patient was blind and autistic

he was a young child about 6.... extremely outgoing...wanting to investigate everything....he had already been living in the residental apartments a year of so....tactile modality big time...cannot see a thing so everything is explored with taste, touch, smell, location in space and time in day.....no vision....so sound and sound frequencies are the major source of imput for knowledge. Turn your back on this guy for 20 minutes and he will totally dismantle the vacum cleaner..the motor..the wheels...the cord...the bag...the switch on the handle...everything....he would leap on it like a tree frog on a fly....his tactile memory would be smoking...

This autistic blind boy most of all adored the modality of sound...especially music...sound is a tactile thing really...you known the air particle bouncing off your ear drums is tactile...

This Autistic and blind child's ultimate thing was music....he loved the Casio electric keyboard... he would spend all night with the instrument if it was not put up away out of his reach....he loved the production of music...all music he heared he could reproduce....he loved sounds and the field of sound we are all enclosed in....

He was a Rain Man with the Casio keyboard....combine him a a dorm of singing blind kids and away you go....all little angels...

Some of my fondest memories are of listening to those blind children singing their hearts out while he played the piano....at christmas time they sang and sang...it was so wonderful those young sweet voices singing....

Loved ones please include all visually impaired individuals and their loved ones in your prayers.

autism or thimerosal
Loved ones....back in the 70's the true autistic child was extremely rare....I mean really really rare...my extensive speech pathology private practice back then had over a 1000 active patients each year...ONLY A HAND FULL WERE AUTISTIC and autistic like....OUT OF THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN L.A. JUST A HAND FULL OF AUTISTIC PATIENTS......TODAY IT IS 1 FOR EACH 250 BIRTHS.

Autism very well could be an expression of mercury toxicity resulting from thimerosal in vaccines. Clinical signs of mercury toxicity are similar to the manifestations of autism...loved ones please recognize these truths.... that the onset of autism is temporally associated with immunization in some children, that the recent increase in diagnosis of autism parallels exposure to thimerosal, and that there are higher levels of mercury in persons with than without autism.

The schools today are swimming with kids labeled "autistic" and "autistic like"...

What happened loved ones? What changed.....Today on tv I watched a racing auto with a "find a cure for autism now" printed on its hood...strange...find a cure for what? Autism is not a disease....all these american children have probably been profoundly impaired by the american health care system with Thimerosal -

Some organization paid a lot of money to have that painted on the hood of a nascar race hood....I wonder why ? What would be the purpose?..... to put an incorrect statement on a car hood that would be watched by a jillion people....the same place they (drug companies) advertise viagra ....why put a "find a cure for autism now" on the tv screen for auto racing fans.....?

Who benefits from that ? Me...no.....you....no...little kids that have had their lives impaired...no....who benefits from this advertising campaign ...who benefits....the drug companies....they are not stupid.......they spend their advertising dollars wisely...self preservation for them not you...sorry kids !

....did you know around midnite (late at nite...no cameras..not reported in mainstream press) just hours before America invaded Iraq George Bush with low profile signed formal legislation that resulted with parents being unable to sue the drug manufacturers for Autism and autism related symptoms caused by the drug companies.

In mercury poisoning, the characteristic motor findings are ataxia and dysarthria .These signs, along with tremor, muscle pains, and weakness, are noted on relatively high-dose exposure, acute or chronic. In Romanian children accidentally exposed to ethyl mercury in a fungicide, these same symptoms were prominent.The outcome of fetal methyl mercury poisoning in severe form also included spasticity. In contrast, in autism, the only common motor manifestations are repetitive behaviors (stereotypies) such as flapping, circling, or rocking. Persons with Asperger syndrome may be clumsy, and hypotonia has been noted in some infants with autism; the frequency of clumsiness and hypotonia in autism spectrum disorders is not established. No other motor findings are common in autism, and indeed the presence of ataxia or dysarthria in a child whose behavior has autistic features should lead to careful medical evaluation for an alternative or additional diagnosis.

Have you ever heard of dyslexia ?...you have haven't you...you know when the letters are reversed and words get mixed up when you read and write....ever see an Indy car with find a cure for dyslexia ?...I do not think so...why no advertising campaign?

Now... have you ever heard of auditory dyslexia ?

No you have not heard this term....why ?... because knowledge about this "autistic like" acquired disability would give the court system something to really chew on..... auditory dyslexia will make cigarettes and cancer look small time when the lawsuits are settled.

Inner ear damage/impairments combined with auditory processing impairments lead to symptoms very very very very similar to true autism......the attending problems...the behavior problems...impaired speech and communications....auditory dyslexia.

When you get the big 'C' you kick off after a while...you smoke for years then die....the tobacco and health insurance payoffs are nominal...however when your child gets his injections as mandated and then develops auditory dyslexia...your child will get diagnosed and labeled autistic for the rest of his life...believe me I know...I am there in the front lines of Autism and treatments for autistic children.

Healthy children suddenly appearing to have autistic like symptoms after their shots could possibly be experiencing symptoms of auditory dyslexia.

They will not get labeled disabled by drug reactions because of the immense public persuation campaign funded by the drug companies combined with the medical establishment controlling all information to protect itself. We are talking about really really big money here.....

If your child has been diagnosed as autistic or autistic like....investigate the time line of your child's injections....did your baby always act like "Rain Man".... or did it start after his shots?

With the "old school" parents of autistic children back in the 60s and early 70s.... most often the parents would recognize something was different about their child from birth...from the beginning.

Thimerosal is the most common preservative that is used in vaccines and biologics that are marketed in the United States. Thimerosal is used to help prevent a vaccine from spoiling, for inactivating bacteria used to formulate several vaccines, and in preventing bacterial contamination of the final product. Several of the vaccines recommended routinely for children in the United States contain thimerosal. However, reports have surfaced linking thimerosal to mercury poisoning in infants often causing autism.

On July 7, 1999, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) issued with the US Public Health Service (USPHS) a joint statement alerting clinicians and the public of concern about thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative used in some vaccines.The reason for the warning is that himerosal contains a related mercury compound called ethyl mercury. Mercury is a toxic metal that can cause immune, sensory, neurological, motor, and behavioral dysfunctions.
The Food and Drug Administration suggested that some infants, depending on which vaccines they receive and the timing of those vaccines, may be exposed to levels of ethyl mercury that could build up to exceed one of the federal guidelines established for the intake of methyl mercury. Symptoms of mercury toxicity in young children are extremely similar to those of autism.

This could explain some of the dramatic increases witnessed in the numbers of children diagnosed with autism since the early 1990's. The numerous amount of children diagnosed with autism seems to directly correlate with the recommendation of both the hepatitis B and HIB vaccine to infants in the early 1990s. Autism is a neurological disorder that is characterized by impairments in language, cognitive and social development.
